This is an hour and a half intensive learning experience which will delve into the science behind the art of growing food. Each class begins with a lecture and ends with a “hands-on” experience in the production beds of our urban “pocket” farm. A digital syllabus accompanies each paid tuition. Tuition is $45 unless otherwise noted.

NOTE: These are serious, science-based gardening classes designed for gardeners over the age of 16 and are open to all skill levels. All classes are held “weather permitting”. In the event of rain, the class will be rescheduled and your tuition transferred or refunded.

FALL/WINTER/SPRING 2023/24

Nov 4 11:30am-1:00pm Introduction to Organic Gardening Basics. Overview of the components of organic gardening.


Dec 10 11:30am-1:00pm Planning your winter garden - Knowing what you’re growing: what to plant and how to grow your cool season favorites. Kale, lettuces, broccoli, cauliflower, herbs, greens


The following classes can be purchased separately but are most effective when you attend each one. Bring your lunch if you’ll be attending both.

APR 7 11:30 - 12:30pm PART 1: Planning your warm season garden - Knowin’ what you’re growin’: What to plant and how to grow them now: Tomatoes, Squash, Peppers, Eggplants, Herbs and more!

APR 7 1pm - 2:30pm PART 2: Get Ready with Me! Planting a warm season garden ~ get your hands dirty "hands-on" lab from soil prep, plant selection, drip irrigation and planting.
