These classes are at least an hour and a half intensive learning experience which will delve into the science behind the art of growing food. Most classes (except for Intro) begin with a lecture and end with a “hands-on” experience in the production beds of our urban “pocket” farm. A digital syllabus accompanies each paid tuition. Tuition is $45 unless otherwise noted.

NOTE:

  • These are serious, science-based gardening classes designed for gardeners over the age of 16 and are open to all skill levels.

  • All classes are held “weather permitting”. In the event of rain, the class will be rescheduled and your tuition transferred or refunded.

  • A minimum of 4 attendees are required to hold the class. If minimum is not met, tuition will be refunded or transferred to the next scheduled class.

All classes are taught by Master Gardener/horticulturist, Geri Miller.

 

Introduction to Organic Gardening Basics -

Ready to grow your green thumb this season? Join us for this transformative gardening class where you’ll dive into the fundamentals of organic gardening—just in time for peak growing season.

Whether you’re planting your very first vegetable garden or looking to take your existing garden to the next level, this informative workshop has something for everyone.

  • You’ll gain hands-on knowledge in soil management, seasonal crop selection, site planning, irrigation techniques, fertility boosting, and natural pest and disease control.

  • You’ll discover the key components of sustainable organic gardening in LA and how to plan your space for success.

  • You’ll receive a digital syllabus to keep for reference later and a 15% discount on anything we sell (except eggs).

    By the end of the class, you'll have a good foundational knowledge of organic gardening basics to start the upcoming growing season. Get ready to take home not just newfound skills, but also the confidence to cultivate a flourishing garden in Los Angeles!

Get Ready with Me! PART 2: Planting your summer garden - get your hands dirty with this “hands-on” lab in the garden from soil prep, plant selection, drip irrigation and planting.

Learn-by-doing: Tomato Basics PART 2

Get ready to successfully grow America’s number 1 vegetable (technically a fruit!). This follow up to Part 1, this class will cover pruning, trellising, fertilizing and pest/disease control. We’ll discuss harvesting as well. Class tuition Includes a syllabus and a tomato plant of your choice from our nursery to take home.
